Catch an Affair: The Tale of the Plumber’s Dilema Can Teach You The One Technique You’d Never Think to Use

Did you know that there’s one thing in particular that you’re doing to catch an affair that’s making it incredibly difficult? But don’t you worry, I know exactly how to fix it.

WARNING: I don’t mean too…but when I tell you this, I may come off as…mean? Offensive? I don’t mean too, and it is NOT intended that way, but I might. So if you’re the type to get offended, please, do yourself a favor and maybe stop reading.

Still here? Great! Boy do I have a secret to tell you, and it’s really going to help you catch an affair.

I really want to help you, I’ve been in your shoes before, coping with the infidelity of the one you love. It’s terrible. Without a doubt, it’s probably one of the worst feelings in the world.

I just want you to know that you can trust me. Ok? Ok. Now, I want you to do something for me, it’s pretty easy, but it’s really important to me that you do this.

I want you to pretend that you’re a plumber. And you have to fix a sink (hint: the sink is your partner’s affair).

So far so good? This probably seems dumb, but keep with me for a bit longer, I think you’ll see where I’m going with this.

Ok, so you’re a plumber and you’ve got a sink to fix. What’s the first thing you do? You find a tool to use of course! Now, what tool would you want to use to fix a sink? For the purpose of this analogy, you have two choices. Choice number one is a wrench. It’s a well built, solid wrench.

Choice #2 is a delicious flour tortilla.

So those are your choices. Which one do you choose to use to fix this leaky sink?

What’s that? The well-built wrench you say? Oh my goodness…

You’re RIGHT! YOU WIN A PRIZE! CONGRATULATIONS!

Ok, seriously. How does this apply to you and catching an affair? Well, let me explain this. The sink is a metaphor for your spouse/partner’s affair. The choice between a wrench and a tortilla is like choosing between using your logic (the wrench) or your emotion (the tortilla) to handle the situation.

Now, remember, when you’re fixing that sink, you chose to use the wrench. So, now when you need to catch an affair you’ll use your logic, your intelligence. Not your tortilla.

If you use your tortilla, well then maybe you’ll be able to somehow jerry rig something to temporarily fix the problem, but I can tell you right now, your sink is not fixed. Just like with your partners affair, it may be easier to just freak out and let your emotions take over.

You haven’t fixed a thing though! You could’ve just used your wrench and fixed the problem permanently! It’s easy to just go off on your spouse or partner, but in the end you haven’t actually accomplished anything.

What if you employ the wrench as your tool instead? What if, instead of going crazy and moving nowhere, you were cold, calculated, and collected about this? Don’t you think that you’d have a lot more success catching an affair then? If you can collect yourself enough to look at your spouse’s affair with an eagle’s eye view, you’ll see that they’re making oodles of mistakes. You just haven’t been seeing them because you’ve been trying to fix a sink with a tortilla.

See? That all came together in the end, right? This is one of the main things I like to tell people, because I think that this is the biggest thing people don’t do when approaching an affair.
